The new upkeep idea was great, but there are some issues.
First is that small towns are paying too low upkeep. As ADCK said in other post, this could enable a 1 plot town with only $10,000 to last for 27 years.
A common small town with 50 plots could last 54 years with $1 million, which isnt hard to get.
This will in fact increase the number of ghost towns in server, which already has too many of them.
-The best solution for this in my opinion is bringing back the 2500 obligatory base upkeep while still having the $10 upkeep per plot (maybe lowering it to $7).
The other problem is that mayors and assistants have been setting crazy tax rates for residents in order to pay for the town upkeep. Besides being unfair, this increases economic inequality because mayors and assistants dont pay taxes.
-The solution is making them pay tax too, so they think twice before setting high taxes.

I really agree with Stux. Some residents(or the new residents) doesn’t have that much money to help the town .So maybe* lower the upkeep per plot to $7 or change it back to the 2500 base upkeep.

Funny thing was when we came up with this idea it was ment so we have less small (ghost) towns all over the map. For some reason the opposite of that got done and placed ingame. Abit strange indeed.I agree with stux. Once again the whole point of this thing was a failure. Beacause small towns only have to pay a little… And enourmous towns suffer.

I agree with this im suffering from upkeep because theres only 2 ppl that come on in my town and upkeep is 8410 per day ! in 30 days we spend about 240k in a month change plots to $7 or keep upkeep to 2500 per day Its not fair that small towns get like 500 upkeep per day and we have to pay these huge amounts for upkeep were suffering Ive been on Ec a lot and I hate this decision

Yes, the mods are figuring out what will change on upkeeps later on. People with big towns have HUGE amount of upkeep, for mayors you can temporarily unclaim some town parts </t unclaim> to lower your upkeeps for a while.
Please wait until mods make their decisions.
