Recently a Google Document was created to help explain which mods are allowed to be used and which aren’t. I think it missed a lot as it never mentioned the mods that only affect interference. A 4th mod on the allowed mods section should be added that says “An mod that only affects the player’s interference or HUD.” Before I left this was the rule, that as long as it doesn’t affect the player with an unfair advantage then it shouldn’t be banned. Speaking of that, why exactly is the Damage Indicator mod banned? It doesn’t really make much of a difference since it tells you the amount of health only. I remember before I left that it was banned again after a mod complained about it giving a slightly unfair advantage during PvP:
During PvP, players with the Damage Indicator could find the players with less health and hunt them, instead of taking a lucky guess and attacking any player.
If there was any other reason why the mod was banned, can a mod (not member, it helps me make sure) please explain in the replies?
(Following two are not important, they only help improve grammar and other mistakes)
Also, this may seem like it isn’t really important, but textures shouldn’t be mentioned in the mods section. It would be better to create another part under the mods in the document where you explain which texture packs are allowed and which aren’t. Final thing I’d like to point out is in the banned mods section. The explanation of the mods shouldn’t be placed as the first point, it should be one or two lines above the list.
Thank you for taking time to read my topic, if you disagree with any of my points other than the last two since they are pointless and could be pretty much ignored, please let me know why you disagree in the replies. Have a nice day.Interference mods?
To interfere with something is to come between it/blocking it.
(Example: Two people are talking, you just come in and talk random stuff: you interfered with their conversation)I think you meant mods that change visual/framerates, etc…
So any mod that doesn’t give advantages over others. Am I right?Yes you are, I apologize, I was multi tasking while writing this and I’m not good at multi tasking. T_T
Hard to understand your topic but damage indicator is on there because it can be used to go to the lowest health player in a pvp area. Im not sure what you mean by the rest of what you said, sorry. :/
It’s okay, Oreo, but there aren’t alot of mods that don’t give advantages, or they’re so uncommon they’re barely being used.
The most popular ones, and also the most used, are allready on there:
Shaders and Optifine.
(While not really being a mod, texture packs is also on the list of “allowed mods”, since it doesn’t give advantages or anything)If you know any mod that doesn’t give advantages over others, feel free to list them so we can add them to the list.
If you’re uncertain wether a mod is allowed or not, you can allways ask someone.
I don’t think a list is possible, there are tons of mods that change the way Minecraft looks without really affecting the player (mods, not texture packs). I can only list a few: More Player Models, Mo’Bends, Advanced HUD, Chat Bubble, Blood Particles, etc. There are just as many mods of this kind as hacked clients, just look it up on any website that showcases Minecraft mods.
You are right about the texture packs not giving an advantage and such, but you missed a few lines: “It would be better to create another part under the mods in the document where you explain which texture packs are allowed and which aren’t”
Trollson – Basically it’s a whole essay of minor mistakes in the document.
If you guys find it pointless to edit the document, feel free to close my topic. The problem was that damage indicator showed invis players.
The problem was that damage indicator showed invis players.
It never showed invisible players… Wanna know the reason?
#GoAskTheModCreator
It didn’t like outline the invisible players, it showed you that there was an invisible player. All you had to do was look at where an invisible player was, and you could see his health and his movement (walking, sneaking, standing still), which gave damage indicators one heck of an advantage. Damage indicators also allows yo to have a better judgement because you see a 20/20 health Pro 4 guy, and you see a Pro 4 guy with 2/20 health. You’d most likely go for the 2/20 health guy to get some good loot.
No this isnt a pointless topic, it has good points. Ill add to the list that mods that only change cosmetic features of the game are allowed.
AnonymousAlright, let me rephrase my words.
In BAD75’s ban appeal, I said that it showed Invisible Players. This is partly correct and partly incorrect (I apologise for my rushed reply, everyone hates being imprisoned in school -.-). What I meant is that it shows the health of the invisible player, and not outline it (like what Rogue said), which means you still can technically ‘see’ the invisible players. Seems like I am partly mistaken by the mods -.-
