If you put glowstone connected with a piston and the glowstone crushes you, you’re practically looking through walls like x-raying. As the glowstone is designed that way.

Glowstone is coded as a transparent block the same a Glass, But it’s texture is covering the block so You can’t see through it. Glass and Glowstone share almost the same block strength. If a block of glass were to push on to the player it would reveal everything behind the pixelated area, while for glowstone they are a full textured block so it can actually see through blocks, The same with tnt.
